Clear answers before you get started.

Everything you need to know about documenting your rental with PrivateProof, protecting your security deposit, and keeping your records private.

What is PrivateProof?

PrivateProof helps renters create an organized record of their home's condition. It guides you through move-in documentation, room inspections, photos, notes, repairs, and proof records you can keep or share.

Do I need an account?

No. PrivateProof is designed without user accounts. You can use the app without creating a profile, maintaining a social presence, or handing over your personal records.

Who is PrivateProof for?

PrivateProof is built especially for renters, including college students and people sharing apartments with roommates. It is useful for move-ins, move-outs, security-deposit questions, repairs, and landlord disputes.

What can I document?

You can document rooms, walls, floors, cabinets, appliances, fixtures, damage, repairs, property details, notes, and supporting photos. The guided workflow helps you work through the space room by room.

Where is my information stored?

PrivateProof is designed around personal control. The app does not use a PrivateProof account system or require your records to be uploaded to a PrivateProof server. Keep your own copies of important exports.

Can I share a proof record?

Yes. You can create a proof PDF and choose whether to email or share it. You control when a record is shared and who receives it.

Is PrivateProof legal advice?

No. PrivateProof is a documentation and organization tool. It does not provide legal advice, guarantee an outcome, or replace advice from a qualified professional.

What happens after I complete move-in?

Completing the move-in workflow seals the record, creates a proof PDF, and gives you an organized copy to keep or share. If an issue happens later, you can create a new proof and connect it to the earlier record.

How much will it cost?

The planned launch price is $20 once for lifetime access. There is no annual subscription. PrivateProof is currently in beta testing; public purchase availability will be announced separately.

What does beta testing involve?

Beta testers try an early version of PrivateProof and report confusing experiences, errors, and improvement ideas. Features may change, and beta access does not guarantee continued access or a specific launch date.
